The Lyon Arboretum is a botanical garden and part of the University of Hawaii, just five miles from Waikiki. Located in the back of Mānoa Valley, Lyon Arboretum has over seven miles of beautiful hiking trails and boasts more than 6,000 taxa of tropical and subtropical plants on nearly 200 acres. If you have children, you have an option to purchase a Lyon Arboretum Exploration Kit. Each kit contains a magnifying glass, crayons, and an activity booklet to guide you and your family through the Arboretum with more in-depth exploration. Purchase the equipment for $7 at the Visitors Center. A Garden Guide for adults is also available. The views are unbelievable and the hikes are manageable.
